Our Mission
C.O.J.A.C. provides services for families and carers affected by disability from an inclusive and accessible resource centre, managed by service users as ‘nothing about us, without us’.
Our Story
C.O.J.A.C was formed in the 1980s when groups of families and organisations joined together to campaign for services for families and carers affected by disability. From this, the organisation established a project within the former local authority housing offering children’s holiday playschemes and adult evening groups. In 2000, C.O.J.A.C. was forced to leave its premises due to plans for housing regeneration. The project was successful in securing a defunct local authority youth centre, and in 2001, with enough work and funding investment, the project moved in. The project, increased services and has invested over one million pounds in regenerating the centre and continues to invest in its overall maintenance and development. C.O.J.A.C. children and adult services are registered with the Care Inspectorate, monitored by the Charity Regulator, have a Silver Investors in People standard and a gold Achieving Quality Scotland.
