At the COJAC Centre, we provide a children’s service available to those aged 5 years (or going into Primary One) up to 18 years.
COJAC childcare services provides out of school/afterschool care and care during school holidays for children with additional support needs only. Activities are provided in a safe, caring environment offering a range of stimulating and restful activities for school age children.
We provide high staff to child ratios ensuring the needs of the individual child is met, and put the child at the centre of what we do.
We aim to make a positive difference in children and young people’s lives using the Getting It Right For Every Child (GIFREC) framework and following the Safe, Healthy, Achieving, Nurturing, Active and Respect, Responsible and Included wellbeing indicators. We also follow the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Our service is a registered Scottish Charity of Incorporation (SCIO), registered with Care Inspectorate and all care staff are qualified at a minimum of SVQ Level 2 and are all trained members of the Social Work Services Council which ensures all our staff are undertaking qualifications relevant to their role within the service.
All staff and volunteers are members of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme.
As an independent local registered Scottish Charity, we are monitored by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator. We are managed by a voluntary board comprising of parents/carers who use the service. We are a non-profit making organisation and all funds raised go back into service delivery. Our voluntary board ensure the involvement of and participation of service users and their families in service delivery.
Available Monday to Friday from 3pm until 6pm during school term time and full day service during in-service and/or local election days. Children are dropped off at COJAC by education and/or social work transport and collected by parents by 6pm.

After arrival at Afterschool Club, children are provided with a snack provided by the COJAC Centre. We provide both hot and cold snacks allowing the children variety, and we also cater to individual children’s dietary requirements. The food we provide is nutritious, filling and freshly prepared. We encourage the children to regularly drink water and juice to ensure they are hydrated.
Our Holiday Club playscheme is during school holidays (Monday to Friday) in would-be school hours, excluding bank holidays. During the Holiday Club play scheme, as well as making use of the resources in the COJAC Centre, we provide engaging activities and trips outside of the centre using social work transport buses. Some of these trips can include:
- Trips to local parks such as Calderglen, Kelvingrove, Overton and Glasgow Green
- Five Sisters Zoo, Livingston and Blair Drummond Safari Park, Stirling
- Visits to the seaside
- Exploring the tall ship and the Riverside Museum
- Cinema visits
During the Holiday Club playscheme, food is provided to the children through the Voluntary Action Fund. You can find out more about this scheme here.
